Meldin® Product Families

The Meldin® product family is the most complete range of polyimide and engineered thermoplastic materials available on the market today.  These materials are available in compression or injection molded and machined components, as well as basic shapes for the ultimate in customization and design flexibility.

The Meldin series materials retain their critical properties over a temperature range from cryogenic through +600°F (+315°C) for continuous operation, and may be used intermittently up to +900°F (+482°C).  Superior strength and rigidity, combined with self-lubricating properties, provide long, maintenance-free service for critical applications in engines, medical devices, aircraft and aerospace systems, electronic apparatus, and industrial equipment, to name just a few.

Our team of highly skilled professionals works closely with our customers by applying extensive materials knowledge and manufacturing expertise to generate customized solutions for even the most challenging applications.  Whether it is a single prototype or a multimillion-piece production run, the Meldin series affords a choice of high performance polymers that can address all severe service applications where design parameters include temperature extremes, high loads and speeds, extended wear properties, and broad chemical compatibility.

Meldin Shapes

Basic Shapes

Available stock shapes include hot compression molded sheets, rods, and thick walled tube blanks; as well as isostatically molded rods.

Our extensive distributor network allows for a local supply of stock shapes, keeping the supply chain for our customers as short as possible.

Meldin Formed Components

Direct Formed Components

Meldin 7000 series materials have excellent processability.  Unlike PBI, ceramics, and other high temperature materials, Meldin 7000 series materials can be powder compacted, also known as direct formed, into complex part geometries. In many cases, a part that was previously machined can be direct formed instead.

Meldin Injection Molded

Injection Molded Components

Meldin HT thermoplastic materials are typically used in applications where service conditions exceed the limits of conventional materials.

Injection molded Meldin HT parts are made by the economic injection molding process, and complex part shapes can be incorporated into the injection mold tooling.

Meldin Bearings and Bushings

Bearings and Bushings

Bearings and bushings made in Meldin 7000 series and Meldin HT materials provide longer life and reduced maintenance costs.

Meldin materials are ideally suited for highly demanding applications in the aerospace, agricultural equipment, industrial machinery, and medical/dental tool markets.

Meldin Piston and Sealing Rings

Piston and Sealing Rings

Piston and sealing rings made in Meldin materials offer excellent wear life and chemical compatibility versus traditional cast iron solutions.

The Meldin materials' excellent flexural, wear, frictional, and chemical properties make them ideal piston ring candidates for demanding applications such as compressors, vehicle transmissions and axles, hydraulic actuators, and shock absorbers.

Meldin Rotary Vanes

Rotary Vanes

Rotary vanes made in Meldin materials have excellent mechanical, frictional, temperature, and chemical properties that make them ideal material choices for demanding and even dry running applications.

Meldin rotary vanes offer superior chemical compatibility and durability over their phenolic and carbon graphite counterparts. Applications where Meldin vanes provide great value include surgical and dental tools that require long life and guaranteed torque performance.

Meldin Thrust Washers

Thrust Washers

Thrust washers made in Meldin materials offer high wear resistance and excellent self-lubrication characteristics for demanding and dry-running applications.

The Meldin materials' excellent load bearing and self-lubricating properties make them ideal thrust washer candidates for demanding applications such as transmissions, gearboxes, transfer cases, compressors, turbomachinery, and pumps.

Meldin Semicon and PV Equipment Components

Semicon and PV Equipment Components

Meldin 7000 series materials are ideal for semicon equipment chamber applications due to their high purity, low outgassing, superior plasma etch resistance, and other properties.

Meldin 7001, the unfilled polyimide grade, is widely used in semicon equipment such as CVD, PVD, sputtering, and other equipment. Typical Meldin 7001 components include clamp rings, coil keepers, focus rings, lift pins, lift pin holders, chamber gaskets, glass guides, and other components.
