In the 1970s, Saint-Gobain Seals introduced OmniSeal® spring-energized seals to the oil and gas market in order to solve reliability and durability problems caused by the severe limitations of elastomeric seals. These spring-energized seals had already proven their value in the aerospace industry and inspired us to design a series of sealing solutions that handle the ever-increasing requirements of high-performance equipment manufacturers. Our Meldin® tolerance control product line is valuable due to its high pressure and high temperature properties. Our Meldin® 5000 material has been selected for packing kit backup rings for a down hole drilling application where the critical parts are used in a hydraulic drilling jar that helps free and move the drill pipe component
As a result of our close partnerships and collaborations with top industry leaders, we are known for providing solutions for demanding applications which arise from more complex reservoirs, sub-salt, heavy oil and HPHT challenges. Investments in research and development have positively resulted in the next generation of materials and many “firsts” such as the world’s first subsea compression station.
